Karla Williams Posiuniene Bio
Karla is an award-winning screenwriter and executive producer whose work spans TV, theatre, short film, and scripted audio. She known for bold storytelling, complicated characters, and nuanced narratives.
She co-wrote episode 5 of Season 8 on the hit ITV/PBS drama Grantchester (produced by Kudos) and was part of the writers’ room for the Hat Trick, Wonder Project, and Amazon Studio drama SPIRES. Her audio credits include the LAMDA x Audible Original drama Famous and Legacy, the scripted series produced by Wondery Media. She has developed audio dramas with Naked Productions, StoryGlass, Hattrick, and Granny Eats Wolf.
Karla’s award-winning short film Pretty Bitch (based on the play of the same name) has screened internationally at festivals including the BFI Future Film Festival and the London Short Film Festival. She also wrote the LAMDA short film The New Girl. Two of her monologues are featured in the anthology Hear Me Now: Audition Monologues for Actors of Colour published by Oberon Books. Karla has also been longlisted for The Bruntwood Prize and The Alfred Fagon Award and her play Pretty Bitch has been performed at St James Theatre, Soho Theatre, and The Pleasance Theatre, Islington.
In addition to her work as a writer, Karla is the founder of MsMono, an award-winning production company that champions Global Majority women. Through MsMono, she executive produced short films The Ride, funded by BFI Network, Canada Council of the Arts, and Toronto Arts and That Girl, Peugeot which is now streaming on Amazon Prime. For audio she co-wrote and executive produced the eight-part series Fast Food, developed with Hat Trick Podcast and is an executive producer on the Audible Original Do Not Disturb; a ground-breaking comedy/drama series co-produced with Platform Media.
Karla is a member of BAFTA Connect and was selected for Momentum, the career development programme run by We Are Parable and supported by Channel 4 and Sony Pictures Television. She was part of Thrive, a Creative Access programme backed by Banijay which supports rising talent in the creative industries and Foundations Programme by Creative Enterprise supported by The National Lottery.
